Introduction to The Letters of John
These 3 letters were written by John the apostle.
John was one of the first 12 disciples of Jesus.
John also wrote the book of John.
John wrote these 3 letters to the people of different churches.
The letters are the 1st (first), 2nd (second) and 3rd (third) Letter of John.
John wrote these letters to help the people who love Jesus
- to be sure of their faith,
- not to believe false teachings,
- to be faithful to Jesus and
- to love all the other people who love Jesus.
The most important verse in these letters is 1 John 5.13, which says:
I am writing this letter for you who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
I want you to know that you already have eternal life.
